Obituary of Patricia Kinsman

Patricia (Lees) Kinsman, 82, of Kingston, formerly of Norwell, passed away on December 9, 2024. She was the daughter of the late William and Emma (DeFelice) Lees.  Pat was born in Lawrence and graduated from Lawrence High School in 1959.  She attended UMASS Amherst, earning a bachelor’s degree in English, and then went on to earn a Masters in Education from Bridgewater State College.  Pat was an educator for the Weymouth Public Schools for over thirty years, working first as an ELA teacher at Bicknell Jr. High School and later as an adjustment counselor and guidance counselor at East and South Jr. High Schools. Over the years, it was not uncommon for former students to approach Pat’s family members to share stories about the positive impact she had on their lives. 

Pat loved tennis, cooking, and reading. She was an avid golfer and member of Atlantic and Plymouth Country Clubs, where she organized the interclub leagues for many years. In addition, she enjoyed traveling with her husband Art on many trips, including Ireland, Hawaii, and California.  After retiring, she spent many winters in Florida.  Pat also played the piano and loved music and dancing.  She lived to see her grandchildren’s musical theater performances, concerts, and voice recitals.  

Pat leaves behind her devoted husband of sixty-two years, Art Kinsman.  In addition, she is survived by her son Art and his wife, Jessica, of Plympton, as well as three cherished grandchildren, Gianna, Everett, and Maeve. Grandma Pat was extremely proud of her grandchildren’s academic and musical accomplishments and never tired of talking about their achievements. Pat also leaves behind her beloved brother Bill Lees, and nephew, Jonathan.  

Visiting hours will be held at Shepherd Funeral Home in Kingston on December 16th from 3-7 p.m. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Pat’s memory to the NVNA Pat Roche Hospice House in Hingham.
