In Memoriam: Robert (Bob) Gerald Fitzgerald

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Robert (Bob) Gerald Fitzgerald, a cherished member of the Jamaica Plain, Brockton, Duxbury, and Kingston communities in Massachusetts. Bob's journey began on June 25, 1943, in Boston, MA, the beloved son of Robert and Margaret (O’Melia) Fitzgerald.

Bob's life was a tapestry of devotion to his family, service to his country, and contributions to the community. He leaves behind his loving wife of 53 years, Mary (Lemieux) Fitzgerald, and their sons, who were the pride of his life: Robert and his wife Sarah of Topsfield, and their children Connor, Victoria, and Zachary; Timothy of Duxbury and his son Leo; and Kevin and his husband Mark Fitzforry of Dedham.

Bob was predeceased by his brothers John (Jack) and William (Billy).

Bob's legacy includes his dear sister Kathleen, and her husband James Walsh of Cape Elizabeth, ME; his loving sister Mary Ann and her husband John Palmer of Chelmsford, MA; and his sister-in-law Linda Fitzgerald of Plymouth, MA. His life was enriched by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

His educational journey took him from Mission High to St. Thomas Aquinas in Jamaica Plain, laying the foundation for his future endeavors.

Bob’s service in the US Army in Korea was a testament to his bravery and commitment to his country. His professional life was marked by a successful career with New England Telephone & Telegraph Co (Ma Bell), followed by his entrepreneurial spirit in growing a cable television construction company (SDF Construction) into a thriving telecommunications business (Tele/Corporation). Retirement allowed him to enjoy simpler pleasures: working around the house, meeting friends for coffee, and exploring the world through travel.

As we remember Bob, we reflect on a life well-lived, filled with love, laughter, and meaningful connections. In honoring his memory, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Duxbury Food Pantry, a cause close to Bob's heart (

Bob's legacy will live on through the lives he touched, the family he loved, and the community he served. As we bid farewell to this remarkable man, we take solace in knowing that his spirit will live on in the shared memories created with family and friends.
