Obituary of Janet S. McCarthy
Janet S. McCarthy, 76, of Kingston, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on November 30, 2023. Janet is survived by her two loving children, Laura Sanda and her husband Rich of Kingston along with Andy McCarthy of Wareham. Janet was born in 1947 to her parents, the late Albert and Elsa Sencabaugh. She is also survived by her siblings, Barbara MacDonald and her husband Paul of Weymouth and Nancy Sencabaugh and her husband John of Dorchester. She is the loving and devoted grandmother of Sydney Sanda and Annie Sanda.
Janet grew up in Cohasset, MA and loved spending time at her beloved Black Rock Beach and having fun with her friends. She attended Cohasset Public Schools, then Chandler School for Women in Boston where she learned the skills she needed for a lifelong career as a Legal Secretary. She worked for law firms in Washington DC, Cohasset, MA, and then spent many years with Choate, Hall & Stewart in Boston, MA. Janet loved working in her garden, crafting, collecting sea glass, and was a gifted painter. Her greatest love was her family, she cherished time with her children and grandchildren. Though she battled health issues later in life, she was always ready with a hug and a smile for her beloved Sydney and Annie.
Visiting hours will be held at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 216 Main St Kingston MA on Friday, December 8th from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Friends and family are also invited to a Memorial Service on Saturday, December 9th at 10:00 AM at First Parish Church, 223 Main Street, Kingston.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Janet's name can be made to Cranberry Hospice, 36 Cordage Park Circle, Suite 326, Plymouth MA, 02360.
