I'm so glad the school put up the tree for you. Incase nobody noticed yet, there's a plaque for him under ot. You were one of few unforgettable friends, and you will be forever missed.
It's been quite a while, but the last memory I have of Shane is meeting him in the stairwell before physics class. There, he said hello to me, but accidentally used my birth name. Quickly, he corrected himself, and called me "Jared," my preferred name. Living with a new name was a challenge, but Shane was one of few who picked up on it immediately, and I was so grateful for his gratitude and understanding.

It seems like yesterday that I watched you sprinting down the track. You were always the first one there and the last to leave. Your smile and enthusiasm was a big part of our team. You are a true team player my friend. Your memories though short will last forever. In peace.

Shane was an extraordinary young man and I always heard such good things about him around town. Starting the food pantry in Carver was such an amazing, kind and insightful thing for a boy his age to do. My son Harley and daughter Jessie went to school with Shane and he will be sorely missed. Shane fought such a courageous battle and our deepest condolences go out to his family... In peace, Debbie & Tammy, Jessie and Harley Marshall-Hewlitt

I remember meeting your son when he was 7 or 8 years old. In the Carver Gym, he was selling jars of homemade cookie mix to benefit a food pantry he wanted to start. He was adorable. I was struck by his poise and humbleness, and impressed with his empathy. He has shown all of us how we should be living our lives. He left this world a better place than when he came in. I am so grateful for that. Thank you for raising such a spectacular human.

To Shane’s beloved Family,
Shane was more than an inspiration throughout his brief but impactful life. He was a motivator, teacher, and leader. And an unstoppable force-for-good.
His legacy will live on in each person who not only had the pleasure of knowing him but who knew of him … thousands, I’m sure. And we will endeavor to make the world a bit better because of Shane.
He had the priceless gift of an amazing family. You are all in my prayers.
In Christ and with Love,
Gail

I am so sorry for your loss, Shane was one of my favorite Art students. He brought so much joy to my class everyday and lit up the room with his beautiful smile. Every day he would thank me on his way out of class, it would make my day. He was such an amazing young man and I will miss him so much! Just wanted to share a pastel drawing he made in 6th grade. Rest in peace Shane, Mrs. Wahle

I will never forget the first time I saw Shane at the Carver Middle-HS. He was just a little guy then - with his Mom collecting money for food for the needy. Through his long battle with Cancer he inspired so many to not give up. My heart breaks for his family and friends but he is no longer in pain and I know he has a very special place in Heaven,
You are and will always be my Hero Shane.
