Obituary of Elaine D. Leedham

Please share a memory of Elaine to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Elaine D. Leedham, 77 of Duxbury passed away with her beloved husband of 57 years, Stephen (Steve) F. Leedham of Duxbury and only child Jennifer Devine (Leedham) of Plymouth by her side as they held her hands and kissed her goodbye. She was the youngest child born to the late Richard S. & Dagmar (Larsen) Storkfelt of Denmark and Glendale Road in Sharon, where she ultimately met and married Steve. Her childhood centered around her older sisters, the late Elsie (Herbert) Gleichauf and Grethe (Walter “Buddy”) Reddick and her nieces and nephews: Ed, Joan and Gary (Gleichauf) and Linda, Wes, Walt and Glen (Reddick). Later in life her husband, daughter and grandsons, Ethan Bennett Devine (23) and Zachary Stephen Devine (21) became her pride and joy.

Elaine graduated from Sharon High School and Dean Junior College and worked as a secretary most of her life. She resided in Burlington, VT and Northfield, OH before moving to Duxbury in 1977 where she was very active in the Newcomer’s Club, Girl Scouts and the first Music Promoters group at Duxbury High School. Elaine enjoyed shopping, the beach and boating. She was a great hostess, enjoyed having company and loved a good joke. Her infectious laugh will be forever missed, but luckily her daughter inherited it. Her travels alongside Steve to Las Vegas, Florida, Jamaica and Denmark, where she still has extended family, were some of her fondest memories.

She is survived by her husband Steve, daughter Jennifer and grandsons, Ethan and Zach of Plymouth, her sister Grethe Reddick of North Easton and all of her nieces, nephews and their children. If desired, friends can make memorial contributions to Duxbury Interfaith Council, Box 1161, Duxbury, MA 02331 www.duxburyinterfaithcouncil.org/

A memorial service will be held on March 20th at 11:00 AM at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 216 Main St, Kingston.
