Gail F. Avery, Norrie, age 78, died unexpectedly on Saturday May 2, 2020 at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Gail was born on August 9,1941 in Brockton MA, the daughter of Stephen and Germaine Colby. Gail graduated from Whitman Hanson High School class of 1960. Following graduation, Gail married William J Avery on June 24,1961 and settled in Plympton, MA. Gail and William had their beloved son, John S. Avery, on October 12, 1963. Not long after, Gail was widowed on March 28,1968 and lost the love of her life. In addition to her parents and her husband, Gail was predeceased by her sister Cynthia Colby on July 27,2001. Gail’s surviving relatives include: her loving son, John S. Avery, and his wife, Lisa, of Scituate, her grandson Vincent Attonito and his wife Kiera of Bridgewater, her granddaughter Monica Attonito of AZ, as well as her two great grandchildren, Eli and Emmett from Bridgewater, her sister Ginger Dameron of WY and her brother Steve Colby and his wife Jo from AK. She is also survived by many adored nieces and nephews, as well as their children. Gail was a waitress, cook, and hairdresser until she found her calling as a phlebotomist at South Shore Hospital for many years until she retired in 2018. She loved her job and the people she worked with. Gail found the most joy in helping others. She loved to cook and share food. She was extremely empathetic and would be there for anyone in a heartbeat. ​ There will be a celebration of life at the Upland Sportsman Club in Plympton at a time to still be determined. For those who would like to remember Gail in a special way, please donate to your local animal shelter.
