Obituary of Jack W. Quindley

Jack W. Quindley,19, of Carver passed away on October 20, 2019 due to an accident.  Jack lived his entire life in Carver.  He graduated in June 2019 from Carver Middle High School. He was working full-time at Old Sandwich Golf Course and was in the process of joining the US Marine Corps.  He wanted to make his family proud 

Jack loved spending time with his family and friends.  He was a fanatic about sports.  A gifted and natural athlete, Jack played varsity basketball, soccer, track and golf.  He also loved football and participated in many intramural touch football teams, because no way was his mother letting him play tackle football.  Throughout his life he played on multiple travel teams representing the Town of Carver. He was known for his tenacity in sports, sacrificing his body when he could for the win.  Hating to lose, he was known to throw his second place trophies in the trash.  In one baseball game against Milton, Jack threw a no-hitter and hit a home run all in the same game. One of his favorite days of the year was Carver Old Home Day and loved being part of the Bake Team.  

Jack is survived by his beloved mother and stepfather, Ann and Steve MacDonald of Carver, his father Donald Quindley of Rhode Island and the best big sister ever, Erin Quindley and her long time boyfriend, Rob Farias of Carver.  He is also survived by paternal grandparents Andrew and Patricia Quindley of Plymouth.  He was predeceased by maternal grandparents William and Florence “Flo” Curley of Middleboro.  Jack was fortunate to have found his mother’s biological mother, Sheila Rancourt and her family of Jefferson, Maine who was a part of his life as well.  He was also survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins.  

Anyone who knew Jack loved him.  His precocious smile instantly lightened a room and lifted your spirit.  Tremendously funny and kind hearted, Jack loved anyone with whom he came in contact. Jack lived and loved his life to the fullest.  He was immensely loyal to his family and friends.  He would never let someone down and put all others first. Jack was the big kid who looked out for those who needed a champion. 

Jack also loved little kids, some say because he was a big kid himself. Jack chose to do some of his senior internship with the Kindergarten class.  There were days when one little girl would cry because she did not want Mr. Quindley to leave.  But he would sit with and console her until it was ok for him to go back to school.  When he was 14, he told his mother he was excited to grow up, because he could not wait to become a dad. What a great dad he would have been.  

On October 23, 2019, Jack was scheduled to go for his physical for the Marine Corps but God had other plans. He would have been a great Marine.    

Visiting hours with be at the Shepherd Funeral Home 116 Main St Carver, MA Friday October 25, 2019 from 4-8:00 pm.  In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Jack Quindley Memorial Scholarship Fund c/o Carver Mutual Bank, PO Box 811, Carver, MA 02330. On Saturday October 26, 2019, at 3 pm, a memorial service will be held at the Carver High School Gym, 60 So Meadow Road, Carver.
