Daniel Warren Gale, was born on May 24, 1928 in Concord, NH. He was the son of the late Daniel A. Gale and Hattie Viola Kimball. The most influential person in his life was “Chuck” Charles Beadette, a half breed Indian.

After graduating from Concord High School in 1946, he started his Navy training June 28th in Bainbridge, MD. He advanced over his Navy career to Chief Machinist Mate. Dan served on destroyers, visiting foreign ports, and countries. He had shore duty at USN submarine base Rodman Canal Zone (Balboa Panama). He also had a tour of duty on a submarine.

He spent ten years on the USS Vesole DD/DDR878. He served at USN Guided Missle Service Unti #215 at USN Ammunition Depot, Hingham, MA.

After many hospitalizations with recurring intestinal problems, he was finally put on medical discharge. Dan worked in Massachusetts at Bethlehem Steel Ship yard as a Marine Inspector. When they closed in 1964, General Dynamics opened the Quincy Shipyard. In 1968 Dan built a house and moved to Duxbury. He retired form the shipyard in 1987 as chief of Guarantee Engineering. Next he worked near home at Battelle of Duxbury doing a variety of jobs.

Dan was a soccer coach for many years as our children grew up. When Dan grew up during the depression he gathered food for his family. He fished, trapped, and hunted. He also picked herbs and berries.

With his love and knowledge of nature, he became an Assistant Scout Master of Troop 82, sharing that knowledge. Our three sons and grandson became scouts. In 2003 Dan and grandson Travis and Troop 82 went to the premiere BSA Scout Camp, Philmont, NM. They backpacked, hiked, and camped on trails for 10 days. Dan enjoyed hiking with his dog Zipper and then Ginger.

He lived for his days at the Duxbury Senior Center. That is where he found his artistic talents and a love for colors. The staff plans trips, activities that mentally and physically stimulated the clients. The variety of each day motivated him to get up in the morning.

Dans greatest love was his family. His second wife Evelyn who proceeded him, had three children, Stephen Douglas Gale who died at a young age, Donna Marie Gale, and Brian Edward Gale. Dan’s brother the late Edwin K. Gale. Dans nephew the late Jeremy K. Gale.  He is survived by his nephew Jon Gale and his wife Debby. Dan tried a third time and been married to Carolyn J.
