Hovey, William Vaughan, of Duxbury, died at home on Tuesday, July 26, 2011. He was born on September 27, 1930, in Boston, MA at the Massachusetts Osteopathic Hospital with which his grandfather Frank Mendel Vaughan was affiliated. He was the son of Norman Hovey and Josephine Vaughan, husband of Beverly Joyce Breed, father of Susan H. Dickow of Lakeville, MA, Cynthia H. Ferreri of Plymouth, MA, William Breed Hovey of Foxborough, MA, Thomas Wentworth Hovey of Plymouth, MA and Timothy Vaughan Hovey of Duxbury, MA and grandfather of Charles Tyler Dickow, Sarah Hoyt Dickow, Samantha Wilson Ferreri, Olivia Anderson Hovey, Coleman Breed Hovey, Andrew Martin Hovey, Charlotte Oceania Hovey, Nicolas Graham Hovey, Eli Whittier Hovey, William Vaughan Hovey II, Joanna Keleher Hovey, Mariah Keene Hovey, Grace Carroll Hovey, Phoebe Hoyt Hovey, Thomas Wentworth Hovey, Jr., Brigham Benjamin Hovey, Robert Alec Hovey and Alana Gabrielle Hovey. He graduated from Dartmouth College in 1952, served in the Navy aboard the destroyer U.S.S. Stribling (DD867) from 1952 to 1955, leaving the ship as Gunnery Officer and graduated from Boston University Law School in 1958. His professional associations included the Real Estate Bar Association of Massachusetts (formerly the Massachusetts Conveyancers Association) serving as President, Legislation Committee Chairman, Title Standards Committee Chairman, Executive Committee member and receiving the Richard B. Johnson Award for distinguished service in 1993; Boston Bar Association and the Abstract Club. He was author of the monthly Avuncular Advisor articles in the Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly. He was the Author of "The Best of the Avuncular Advisor". Mr. Hovey was a member of the Duxbury Yacht Club and Duxbury Pilgrim Church. Memorial Services will be held at the Pilgrim Church of Duxbury, 404 Washington Street, Duxbury, on Saturday, August 6, 2011 at 1:00 PM.
