Obituary of John J. Murphy

Dr. John J. Murphy, Jr., 79, of Pembroke, died Nov. 27 after a long battle with cancer.He was the beloved husband of 54 years of Anne (DeBello) Murphy. He is survived by 4 sons John Murphy, III, of Pembroke, James Murphy of Pembroke, Joseph Murphy of Pembroke, and Jeffrey Murphy and his wife Julie of Abington, 2 grandchildren Hannah Nicole Murphy and Jeffrey Murphy, Jr., his brother William J. Murphy of Quincy, and 2 sisters Mary J. Murphy of Quincy and Anne C. Lynch of Westwood, and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Peter J. Murphy and the late Joanne M. Feeney. Dr. Murphy was a 1948 graduate of Boston College High School , a 1952 graduate of Boston College, and a 1957 graduate of Massachusetts College of Optometry. A resident of Pembroke since 1962, Dr. Murphy practiced Optometry in Pembroke from 1962 to 2008.He was also a member of the Lions Club, the Knights of Columbus in Pembroke and a communicant of St. Thecla's Church. He loved to travel and spend time with his family. Funeral from the Shepherd Funeral Home, 7 Mattakeesett St., Pembroke on Thurs Dec.2 at 9:00AM followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Thecla's Church, Pembroke at 10:00AM.
