Shirley A Shirley, 74 of Duxbury MA, formerly of Brunswick ME died Dec 12 at her home in Duxbury. Mrs. Shirley was raised in Pembroke MA, and graduated from Pembroke High School. She married Russell G Shirley from Duxbury and lived throughout the United States during his career in the United States Air Force. She then returned to Duxbury after Russell’s retirement from the US Air Force, to finish raising their 6 children. Mrs. Shirley was an active participant in her children’s lives. She was a den leader in cub scouts, the advisory board for the Plymouth Assembly of the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls, and the Booster club at Duxbury High. She and her family have participated in the Duxbury 4th of July Parade for over 40 years as the Shirley High wheeling Clowns. Mrs. Shirley served as a civilian employee of the Department of Defense, and worked in the advertising department at Grossman’s for 10 years. After her husband’s passing, Shirley moved to Brunswick ME and lived for 16 years. In 2008 she returned to Duxbury. She was an active Bridge Player. She played Bridge in Duxbury and the surrounding communities 3-4 days per week. Mrs. Shirley was predeceased by her husband Russell G Shirley Sr. and her son David T Shirley is survived by her Sister Carol Pedro, her remaining 5 children, Susan Chandel, Russell G Shirley Jr., Jay N Shirley, Scott R. Shirley and Sandra Somerville, 13 grandchildren, 2 great-grand children, and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers donation can be made in Shirley Shirley’s name to the “Margery Parcher Fund” to support Duxbury’s Fourth of July Parade and can be sent to P O Box 1743, Duxbury, MA 02331 Visiting hours will be Wednesday December 16th at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 216 Main Street, Rt. 106, Kingston, from 4:00 – 6:00p.m. Funeral Service will be on Thursday December 17th, at 9:30 a.m., at The First Parish Church, 842 Tremont Street, Duxbury, with burial immediately following at the Mayflower Cemetery, Duxbury.
