Dorothy M. (Wheeler) Landry, 83, died Aug. 6 at her home in Halifax. She was the wife of the late John F. Landry who was the former Postmaster in Halifax. Loving mother of Patricia A. Schneider and her partner Garret R. Dillon of Callicoon, NY and Big Pine Key, FL; devoted grandmother of Owen Schneider of NY; sister of John Wheeler of Marblehead, Daniel Wheeler of FL, Rose McCarthy of Marblehead, Sherman Wheeler of Marblehead, and the late Elizabeth Flaherty, and the late Frederick Wheeler. She is also survived by her beloved companion Gil Porter of Minnesota, as well as many, many nieces and nephews, sisters and brothers–in -law, and a host of wonderful friends. Born in Marblehead, MA on Apr. 21, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Sarah and Frank Wheeler. Dorothy was a retired employee of the Brockton Redevelopment Authority. She was involved in a long public service career as well. She was an active member and staunch supporter of the Democratic Party. Dorothy was a loving friend to all of humanity. Visiting hours on Mon. Aug. 10 from 2-4 and 6-9PM at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 216 Main St. (Rt. 106) Kingston. Funeral from the Shepherd Funeral Home, on Tues. Aug. 11 at 10:00AM, followed by a funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Lake Church, Halifax, at 11:00AM. Interment in MA National Cemetery, Bourne at 1:15PM. Memorial donations may be made to the Dorothy M. Landry Memorial Building Fund, c/o Halifax Housing Authority, 1 Parsons Lane, Halifax, MA 02338.
