Obituary of Ruth A. Carpenter

Ruth A. (Evers) Carpenter of Pembroke, passed away at her home on Jan. 18, 2009. She leaves her beloved husband of 44 years, William Carpenter, her cherished children, William and his wife Jennifer (Diauto) of Hanson, John Scott and his wife Colleen (Corcoran) of Darien, CT, and Pamela of Bridgewater. She also leaves behind 6 precious grandchildren, Kyle, Kaitlyn, Cameron, Mikaela, Keira and Christian Carpenter. In addition she is survived by loving nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews, her Mother & Father in law, Ruth and Bill Carpenter Sr. and her sister in law Betty Triner and her husband Don. She was predeceased by her parents, John and Mae (Feusel) Evers of CT and her sister Jane Felczan of OH. Ruth was born in the Bronx, New York. Graduated as valedictorian of Pleasantville High School, NY and then went on to graduate from Tufts University in Medford MA. Always interested in education, she served on elementary Committees, elementary, junior and senior high school improvement councils, and served for 5 years on the Silver Lake Regional school committee. She was den mother and Eucharist leader. Most recently, she served on the South Shore Community Action Council and the Pembroke Council on Aging. Mrs. Carpenter taught special needs children for 20 years in different facilities such as Westwood Lodge, DYS, and at South Shore Educational Collaborative. She was honored in “Who’s Who of American Teachers”. Donations can be made in Ruth’s name to any of the following; So. A Memorial Celebration will be held Fri. Jan. 30, 2009 from 4-7 pm at the Indian Pond Country Club in Kingston MA.
