Rose M. (Gomes) Barros died Feb. 21 at the Jordan Hospital in Plymouth. She was 79. Born in Middleboro on July 25, 1928, she was the daughter of Avelino and Mary (Cabral) Gomes. She was a long time resident of Carver. She had been employed at the Paul A. Dever School in Taunton for 32 years. She loved gardening, doing crossword puzzles, writing in her journal , driving her Saab convertible, and she was an avid animal lover, especially her son’s dog “Oscar”. She was a member of the Onset VFW, and Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Carver. She was the wife of the late Frank “Chico” Barros. She is survived by her children; Cynthia Washington of Brockton, Rosalind Barros of Carver, Frank Barros of Carver, Deborah Barros of Carver, Bonnie Barros of Carver, Paul Barros of White Horse Beach, and Roberta Grant of Carver. She was the sister of Arthur Gomes of CA, Helen Roby of CT, Margaret Fernandes of Carver, Cecelia Rodriquez of CT, Geraldine Gonsalves of Middleboro, and the late Albert Gomes, Avelino Gomes, Charles Gomes, and Irene Lima. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Visiting hours will be Mon. Feb. 25 4 - 8 PM at Shepherd Funeral Home 216 Main St. (rte 106) Kingston MA. Funeral from the Shepherd Funeral home, 216 Main St., Kingston on Tues. Feb. 26 at 9:00AM, followed by a funeral Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Carver at 10:00AM. Interment in Plymouth County Cemetery, Plymouth. Memorial donations may be made to the MSPCA, 350 So. Huntington Ave., Boston, MA 02130.
