Dear Diana, John, and Matt-
Your dad was one terrific man! I so enjoyed getting to know him on the July 4th Activities Committee. The committee meetings were so much fun with Barry at the helm; he appreciated the people around him, and was quick to laugh, with that sparkly-eyed smile of his! Barry amazed me-when I would ask him to tell me how he ran the different aspects of the job, and who his contacts were, he remembered them all, without referring to a single note! I would always bring a notepad with me and jot down his information; I don't know how he did it.
One thing I do know is how much he adored you kids. He was quick to share stories about you, and talk about what was going on in your lives.
May you all enjoy memories of your dad for many years to come; I know I will.
Love--Joan Edgar

Dear Diana and family, We were so very sad to hear of the passing of your Dad. Although he had been ill for such a long time when it actually happens your never really ready to say goodbye and truly you are not actually saying goodbye for all those wonderful loving memories have a way of keeping him alive and with you all. It's a strange thing - as the pain of the loss seems to ebb those memories and laughs and all those little pieces of who he was seem to pop up at the oddest times and he's still with you - still part of the fabric of who you are and who your children are and will become. He loved you all so much and was very proud. That was obvious in the way he opened his home and became involved in our community. Our thoughts are with you. If you need us we're just a call away.
Love, Kathy & Charlie

Dear Diana, John, and Matt,
I am so very sad to hear that your dad has passed away; he was way too young at age 58. I am guessing that the diabetes had progressed to a point that he became very ill.
All of us on the 4th of July Committee are shocked to hear this terrible news and I expect that many of us will be at the service on the 5th.
I have such fond memories of the meetings that Barry ran at the fire station, and we always had a lot of good laughs. What a good chairman he was, always well connected to many of the town boards and departments. He loved a good party and invited us to your home on Bay Rd. to celebrate the conclusion of yet another successful 4th of July event...and the food was unbelievable! (I still remember the corn pudding which was delicious!)
I last saw Barry a year or more ago when Diana and her husband brought him to the Hill's house for the wrap-up party in August. It was such a treat to see him there, and hear all about the family that he was so proud of.
My deepest sympathy to you and your extended family. Barry will be so very missed by all.
Love, Janet Ritch
