Obituary of David G. Milliken OD

Please share a memory of David to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Dr. David G. Milliken (60 years young) died in a single occupant motor vehicle collision on the morning of April 18, 2016. David is survived by his loving newlywed wife, Paris Milliken of Duxbury, and his father George Milliken of Duxbury. David leaves behind two adoring children, Gregory (27) and Emily Milliken (21). Sharing in the grief are David’s siblings, Glenn Milliken Sr., Denise Rachel, Chalz Kirubi, Ananda Milliken, Jennifer Sanders, and Sean Milliken. David is remembered by all who knew and loved him as a kind, gentle, giving man who was full of love of life. Each day David enriched the lives of those around him with contagious curiosity and compassion. As a husband, David knew and expressed a rare love that most will never be so lucky to have enjoyed. As a father, David made his children feel eternally blessed and honored to have been raised by a man who could simultaneously be their best friend and role model with seemingly effortless grace. As a family member, David was someone whom people looked forward to sharing exciting stories of life with. As a friend David was thoughtful and interesting to talk to, as well as someone you could always count on. As an eye doctor, David was so much more than a health care provider. Visiting Dr. Milliken in his legacy office, Milliken Eye Care was a family experience that left patients knowing they were cared for on a level not expected of a mere professional. David loved to say that patients left his office with “better insight and eyesight”. David’s passion for the beauty of nature was expressed by the works of art he created from stone, wood, and the likes at his home and in his office. In his spare time David was an avid outdoors-man who found peace in nature. David's passion for life and exploration will be carried on through all of the lucky people he touched. Two roads diverged in a wood, and I— I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference. Robert Frost A memorial Service will be held at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 216 Main St. (Rt.106) in Kingston on Saturday, April 30 at 11:00AM.
