Obituary of W. Douglas Edwards

W. Douglas Edwards, age 83, of Kingston, MA, died Dec. 3, 2014, after suffering a stroke recently. A private graveside service will be held on Dec. 8, and a public memorial service on Dec. 20 at the Church of the Pilgrimage, 8 Town Square, Plymouth, on Saturday, Dec. 20, 2014, at 10:30 AM, with a reception directly following at Plymouth Yacht Club. Doug was a long-time Kingston resident, and a former biology teacher at Plymouth-Carver High School, where he also coached basketball for many years. He worked at Plymouth Yacht Club during the summer season for more than 50 years and worked for many years at WPLM on Saturday nights, broadcasting "big band" music. Doug was married to the late Ann S. Edwards of Kingston Mass. for 55 years. He is survived by his beloved daughters: Sylvia Aldrich of Windsor Lochs, CT; Cynthia Edwards of Norton, MA; Susan Launsby of Amesbury, MA; and Elizabeth ("Betsy") Schlehuber of Norton, MA, and 13 grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, in loving memory of his wife, Ann.
