Lawrence Benjamin Ellis, of Middleboro, passed away peacefully after a short illness, on Monday July 7, 2014 at Morton Hospital. Larry, as he was known, was 88 years old. He was a Middleboro resident for 44 years. Prior to Middleboro, Larry was a long time resident of Kingston. He was the husband of the late Eva (Beairsto) Ellis, who died in 1988. Larry was born on July 14, 1925, in Hyannis, to George Benjamin, and Josie Abbie (Neal) Ellis. Larry was an unassuming man who enjoyed hard work, and being with his family. He spent many years in the shoe manufacturing business as an expert in the art of hand sewing. Larry's work experience also included several years as a carpenter constructing many of the structures that became the Cape Cod malls and shopping centers. He also spent many years performing farm work including caring for animals and haying. Larry loved the outdoors, swimming, boating, and other water sports. He is survived by his sister, Mae Francis (Ellis) Horton, her husband Ambrose, and their family. He is also survived by his step daughter, Barbara MacAlpine. His second step daughter, Mary Louise Cavicchi, passed away in February of 2011. Larry had many grandchildren and great grandchildren. A memorial service for Mr. Ellis will be held. Saturday, August 16, 2014 from 1:00 - 3:00 PM, at the home of Michael and Phyllis Horton, 333 Water St, Bridgewater, MA 02324. Anyone wishing to celebrate Larry's life with the family is welcome to attend.
