John was a very funny and very caring person. It was a pleasure to know him, work with him, travel with him and play very bad basketball with him. We shared a dinner atop the World Trade Center in NYC. I loved his stories and his love for life - he was always enthusiastic, self-deprecating and positive. I will miss you, John, but I have a lot of happy memories and will always smile when I think of you.

Dear Nickerson Family,
I am John's classmate and I was very saddened to learn of his death. At our 40th HS reunion, I learned he was valiantly fighting a battle with brain cancer. Knowing of John's competitive spirit, it was no surprise that he battle this horrid disease with tenacity and dignity. I recently was thinking of John and wondered how he was doing...and said simple prayer for him. I remember with great fondness of his love of life. He was a fierce competitor on the field and a warmhearted and very funny guy who had a deep compassion for his friends and family. Please know that you and John will remain in my thoughts and prayers. God bless you.

John was my very first boss at Ocean Spray back in 1991. I have never forgotten him - what a nice man. Working for him was never "work". So sorry to hear of his recent death. I extend my sympathies to the family.

Dear Terri, Lauren and Jamie,
I hope and pray that G-D gives you the strength to get through this difficult time. I know that John was an incredibly kind person who was a wonderful husband and father. Chuck loved him like a brother and used to love to play marathon Backgammon sets with him.
I am sorry that I am not there with you all. May G-D comfort you.
Love,
Elaine Miller

Terri - I am so sorry to learn of John/Nick's death - and his illness. We have been out of touch for a long time but it seems I remember the laughter he engendered well - as I type I am chuckling at the stories and the way he told them. I don't know if you knew I fell in love with fishing in college - and my 3 boys are avid fishermen - I think of John/Nick sometimes when I fish as I knew it was a passion for him. I am also sorry that I was stupid enough to have missed his illness on my occasional passes through Facebook. I hope that you and the girls navigate this very difficult journey ok. I will be thinking of you. Much love, Jodi

John was a great guy with whom I spent many fun times with in high school. Always friendly to everyone, and funny. It's too bad he was not well enough to attend our 40th high school reunion in 2011, as it was the best one we ever had, and he would have enjoyed it. My thoughts go out to him and his family.
