Allen Frank Davis, age 73, of Duxbury, MA, died Wednesday, October 24, 2012, with his adoring family surrounding him. He leaves his loving wife of more than 49 years, Mary Jo (Schulz) Davis. Devoted father and father-in-law of Natalie Davis and Sean Todd of South Dennis, MA, Jennifer Davis and husband Michael Pollard of Hingham, MA, and Alison and husband Paul Lindquist of Plymouth, MA. Proud Grandpa of Dylan, Conrad, Willa, Nicole, and Ashley. Also survived by dear sister Louise and husband Jerry Smith of Saginaw, MI, and nieces and nephews Laurie Smith of CA, Karen Souran of NJ, Jeff Smith of CO, Sue Denman of MI, David Dickson of FL, Stephanie Wolfskill of TX, and Steven Dickson of AR. He was pre-deceased by his mother, Florence Marie, and father, Donald Joseph.
Al graduated from Michigan State University with a BS in civil engineering and later earned a Masters in Public Administration from SUNY Albany. He was a licensed Professional Engineer in MA, NY and CO, and a Licensed Site Professional specializing in overseeing environmental remediation, conducting water resource planning, and analyzing impacts of waste-to-energy facilities. He retired in 2007 from SAIC and consulted thereafter with Prime Engineering.
He enjoyed vacationing along the shore of Lake Superior in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, walking on Duxbury Beach, watching birds, fishing with his buddies, sailing, joking with his grandchildren, and being surrounded by his family. After retiring, he participated in numerous history courses through Duxbury Senior Center’s Lifelong Learning Program. Always ready with his mechanical pencil, his ability to explain a math problem or any technical issue with patience and respect will be sorely missed by those who sought his sage counsel. We love you, Dad and Al.
