Obituary of Frank James Tobin
It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Frank James Tobin. Frank passed away suddenly at home on Thursday, December 19, 2024, exactly 67 years after his birth. He will be missed beyond measure.
Frank was born in Boston in 1957 and grew up in Woburn with his loving parents, Florianna “Florie” Tobin and Frank “Sonny” Tobin, alongside his three sisters. He was the much-loved father of Hannah DeBoe and Jacqueline Tobin-Beiss, who he raised with a positive attitude, unconditional love, patience, and a great sense of humor.
Growing up in Woburn, Frank was mischievous, athletic, and creative; he excelled at sports, school theater, and making those around him laugh. After graduation, he attended Northeastern in Boston, where he played soccer. He soon started working as a bartender at the Paradise Club, where he collected friends and wild tales he would later regale us with. As an adult, he settled down in the South Shore, where he raised his daughters and spent the remainder of his life.
A devoted Boston sports fan, he spent his free time cheering on the Bruins, Celtics, Red Sox and Patriots. When he wasn’t watching sports on tv, he was listening to them on sports radio and spending his free time cooking for others and golfing. He was a hard worker and formed connections with people everywhere he went.
A big guy, with an even bigger heart, he never missed an opportunity to tell loved ones just how much he loved them - whether it be in person, by text, or a phone call. The loss of him leaves a void none of us quite know how to fill, and his sense of humor and big hugs will be missed by everyone.
He is survived by his daughters; son-in-law Ryan DeBoe and daughter-in-law Heather Tobin-Beiss; siblings Nanette Tobin & husband Rick Valelly, Michelle Daly & husband Joe Daly and Denise Abbott & husband David Abbott; and his mother Florie. He was preceded in death by his father, Frank of Woburn. He is also survived by five beautiful grandsons to whom he was “Grandpa Frank” and multiple nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his long time partner Terri Carmody along with countless friends.
Services will be held on January 12th at 12pm at Shepard Funeral Homes Kingston. Visiting hours will be from 10:00 am- 12:00 pm, with a memorial service at 12:00 pm.
In Loving Memory
