Obituary of Alexander A. Popsuj

Alexander A. Popsuj 81, of Kingston formerly of Westborough, and Newton, passed away from kidney cancer on Friday August 23, 2024, in Hospice at the Colony Health and Rehabilitation Center in Abington, Ma. Prior to that he spent over a month as an inpatient at Beth Israel Hospital in Plymouth.

Alexander was the son of Alexander F. Popsuj and Mary Abrazacki Popsuj of South Boston. He attended Boston Trade High School and Boston College.

He joined the US Air Force in 1960 and was stationed at the Vatican in Rome Italy, Japan, the Philippines and Vietnam until 1965.

Alexander became a master electrician and worked for Corporations such as Hood Milk and Proctor and Gamble. During that time, he joined the US Army Reserves. After eight years in the Reserves, he retired from the military as a Sargent First Class. He later switched careers and worked for National Grid and Dassault Systems in their cyber security divisions.

Alexander loved the Military and all sports, especially the New England Patriots.

He was predeceased by his wife of 55 years Ann (Nancy) Popsuj and his son Scott A. Popsuj. He is survived by his daughter-in-law Karen Popsuj of Northbridge; two grandchildren, Alexandra and Zachary Popsuj; one sister-in-law Barbara Hill and her husband Frank of Norwell and three nephews. He also leaves his godchild Julianne Klaussen of Manchester, Ct. and numerous cousins, friends and family members who he loved dearly.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, September 8th from 1-4:00 PM at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 216 Main St (Rt. 106) Kingston. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday September 9th, at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph’s Church, 272 Main St. Kingston. Immediately following the Funeral Mass there will be a burial Ceremony with Military Honors at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Connery Avenue, in Bourne, MA. All are welcome to attend.
