Dede chose Mb to be her roommate while I was finishing my junior year in France, so I met Mb when I returned to Middlebury for my senior year. I vividly remember our Senior in Training party on the Freeman dining hall patio, complete with S.I.T. t-shirts. That whole year was so full of fun and laughter! It was the people and our shared experiences that made 1984-1985 at Middlebury so memorable, and Mb was a major part of that.
I remember Mb as being quick-witted and always smiling. She was just precious, exceptionally easygoing and fun to be around. Mb brought out the best in those around her.
I am profoundly saddened by her passing but grateful that I can call her my friend. I am praying God's peace, comfort and strength for all who love her.

Chip and family,
I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Marybeth. No words can lift the burden as you grieve. Just know that you are in my thoughts and prayers, along with so many others. I hope the remembrance of her can help console your hearts in this difficult time.

There never are the right words to express condolences when someone like Marybeth passes. Marybeth is a wonderful person who leaves a legacy of folks who will be influenced by her friendliness, dedication and sincerity thoughout their lives. I be one of them.

At the end of the fall semester of my junior year at Middlebury, my roommate Jennifer left to spend the rest of the academic year in France. We had a big, beautiful corner double room in Pearsons that I was not allowed to keep as a single. My choices were to move into an actual single room in another dorm, or get a new roommate from the incoming transfers and second-semester freshmen.
So one January afternoon, Martha and I went to the dean's office to read through all the roommate questionnaires to decide who would live with me. Towards the end of Mb's questionnaire, she wrote something along the lines of "I like to get my work done, but I also like to have fun" and I thought "same, Marybeth, same" and chose her. It was one of the best decisions I ever made (even if I doubted it for a second when she first walked into the room wearing a big furry white jacket!)
There are so many moments that became iconic, stories that were told and retold, inside jokes shared through the years. This is so monstrously unfair. My heart is shattered and hurts so much for Chip and Maddi and all of Mb's family and friends that we have lost her singular perspective and light way too early.

Marybeth was such a loving and kind family member. She and Chip started the tradition of handing out kites to all the kids, including mine, every Easter. We would walk to the Cranberry Bog to fly kites together as a family. She was thoughtful, funny and full of positivity. She will be greatly missed.

I worked with Marybeth on several occasions over the last 20 years or so at DEP. She was always patient in explaining what needed to be done and in listening to feedback. She understood the rules and how to implement them. It was pleasure working with her. My condolences to the family for a great loss.

I’m so sorry to hear of Marybeth’s passing. Marybeth was one of the first mom friends I made when moving to Plymouth. Makenna and Maddi did gymnastics together and rode the bus to school together. MB was always so kind and friendly, my kids still talk about the fun Halloween parties she so kindly invited us to. As Makenna and Maddi have grown older, I would still enjoy bumping into Marybeth at school events. Thoughts and prayers for all her loved ones, especially Chip and Maddi❤️ The DiGirolamo Family
