Obituary of Beverly M. Holmes

Please share a memory of Beverly to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Beverly MacAllister Holmes, 66, of Hanson, MA, passed away peacefully on June 8th surrounded by family following a courageous seven year battle with multiple myeloma and leukemia.

Beverly was born in Middleboro, MA on June 30, 1957 to Marilyn and Joseph MacAllister.  She graduated from Middleboro High School in 1975 and moved to Carver in 1977 with her three sons where she lived for 20+ years.  Beverly worked tirelessly to provide for her children.  Most notably, she was a successful breeder of Champion Golden and Labrador Retrievers for 24 years.  She enjoyed raising many different breeds, with Goldens being her favorite.  She loved all of her “four legged kids” and took great pride in her kennel, NuMoon Goldens.

Above all, Beverly will be remembered for her bravery, strong will, commitment to her loved ones.  Beverly’s life was largely centered on her family and she enjoyed spending as much time as possible with her grandchildren.  She relished the opportunity to drop what she was doing to help her kids and grandkids at a moment's notice.  Her happiest times included lobster bakes with her family on the Fourth of July in Harts Location, NH and watching her sons and their children play youth, high school and college sports.  She would unquestionably claim her greatest accomplishment was raising her three sons…primarily on her own.

Beverly is survived by her sons, Scott (and his wife, Jess), of Natick, MA;  Andrew (and his wife, Maren), of Maynard, MA; and Adam (and his wife, Danielle), of Carver.  She was the proud grandmother of nine grandchildren Skylar, Will, Charlie, Ryder, Penelope, Owen, Kendall, Morgan and Gavin.  She is also survived by her mother Marilyn MacAllister, of Middleboro, MA and her five siblings, Sandra Shea (Paul), Joseph MacAllister Jr. (Mary Ellen), JoAnne Miskel, Gail Curtis, and Nancy Laporte (Christopher) as well as many nieces and nephews.  She is preceded in death by her father, Joseph William MacAllister of Middleboro.

Calling hours for Beverly will be held on Monday June 17th from 4 to 8pm at the Shepherd Funeral Home located in Carver on 116 Main St. A burial will be held on Tuesday June18th at 10:30 am at the Thomastown Cemetery in Middleboro.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the BIDMC Patient-to-Patient, Heart-to-Heart ℅ Social Work Department Rose 200, 330 Brookline Ave, Boston Ma 02115.  The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to Jacalyn Rosenblatt, MD, Associate Chief, Division of Hematology and Hematologic Malignancies, and the entire nursing staff on Feldberg 7 at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston for their incredible care of Beverly over the years.
