Obituary of Donald Q. Joyce

Donald Q Joyce of Pembroke, passed away November 18, 2023.

Born February 19, 1936 in Quincy, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late Harry J. and Ruth B. Joyce. 

Don was retired from AT&T in Boston where he worked for over 40 years starting his career as lineman and retiring as a manager.  Don enjoyed hunting, fishing, dancing, taking care of his yard and just diddling on anything that needed to be fixed or not fixed for family, neighbors and friends.  Most of all, he enjoyed his time on Nantucket with family and relaxing on his boat.  During his parental years Don spent countless hours coaching boys ice hockey at Hobomock arenas and girls ice hockey as the coach of the North River Penguins.   

Surviving is his son Deane Joyce and wife Elizabeth of Grantham NH, his daughter Pamela Joyce Kearney and husband Leo of Duxbury, MA, his daughter Paula Joyce of Durham, NH and his son Duane Joyce and wife Terri of Pembroke MA.   Grandchildren Mackenzie Joyce Pavelski, Kelley Joyce, Conor Joyce, Rian Kearney, Jake Kearney, Shawn Joyce and Shane Joyce as well as 4 great grand children.  He is also survived by Claire Kinney Joyce’s children Elizabeth, James, Daniel, Carol, Steven and Melissa.  Don was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Patricia Kempton Joyce and his second wife of 17 years Claire Kinney Joyce,  his brother Robert Joyce and two sisters Janice Joyce DalPra and Carol Joyce.

A wake will be held at the Shepherd’s Funeral Home 216 Main Street, Kingston MA on Wednesday November 29^th from 5:00-8:00 pm. Services will be held at 9:00 am on Thursday at First Church in Pembroke, 105 Center St, Pembroke MA.   Burial following the service will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Don’s name may be made to Norwell VNA and Hospice, 120 Longwater Dr. Ste 200, Norwell,  MA  02061.
