My very first job was with George on the McNary Dam in Oregon. He was such a mentor on the art of strain gauges which helped me grow in the company. We became good friends and I’ll always cherish the Christmas parties and all the golf outings. Our hearts and prayers to the whole Leighton family.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Leighton family.
I have so many fond memories of George golfing, skiing, traveling for work, and just listening to his stories. Always a great time with lots of laughing and maybe a cocktail or two.
George and I worked together at Brewer Engineering and then Teledyne till he retired. I was just a kid when I started there. George took me under his wing and taught me so much. He took me with him on so many field jobs. He would take me over more experienced people. He wanted me to learn from him and that I did. Thanks George.
One of our best trips was spending 5 weeks in China together. We had some stories after that trip. So many that he started a log of everything that happened.
The memories of George will live on forever.

It is with great sadness that I say these words. You were an amazing man. A kind, gentle soul full of wisdom. You could light up a room with your singing and music. I want to Thank you for being the best Grandfather to Brynn and Michael. We will forever cherish the memories we shared with you. I will never forget you infectious laugh, your smile, and your voice singing out loud. Your humility, your stories, and your ability to fix anything with some toothpicks and a little duct tape. I hope the "country roads that take you home" bring you peace and comfort. I wish I had the chance to say goodbye. Until we meet again-Love you always and forever.

My condolences to all of the Leighton family.
George and I worked together at Brewer Engineering, 1972-1977 and again at Teledyne Instrument, 1990 till George retired. We also had another similarity in that we were both US Air Force veterans.
This is one memory of many: Geroge and I returning from Mexico after five weeks. From Mexico City to a layover in Florida, we have 3-4 hr. wait and its early in the morning. We check in and go to the Gate to wait. Geroge and I fall asleep, when we awaken 31/2 hr later the gate is still dark and empty. We missed our flight to Mass. the gate was change while we were asleep.
I always enjoyed George stories of growing up in Maine and his Maine humor. George was an excellent working partner - he always had your back. He was a true friend, who I will always cherish, and I will miss.

I remember when George married into the polka family. He really tried to dance and did make a great effort to learn. Well he did and he really enjoyed the music and dance. He'll be missed. Always had a smile on his face. Rest in Peace George. Bob Cyronak

While my mom could fill a memory book of memories of George polka dancing and the ski chalet at Mt Snow, which I have heard many stories. And there is a picture from the ski chalet of George and my Dad I remember seeing. But my memory of George is polka dancing with him. It was either at a polka dance somewhere or my sister's wedding. Or both. But a top notch non Polish polka dancer! But something I remember well.
And how his face would light up a room.
Sending Johanna, Zach, Asa and family much love, prayers and hugs.
Love, Jennifer
