Obituary of Margaret Wright

Please share a memory of Margaret to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Margaret “Peggy” (Aleks) Wright, 74, wife of Dr. Robert F. Wright Jr. of Pembroke, Massachusetts. After a courageous, nearly two year battle with cancer, Peggy passed away peacefully on September 27, 2023 at her home in Pembroke while surrounded by her close family. Born in Somerville on May 1, 1949 to the late John and Agnes (Duke) Aleks of Brockton, Peggy was the oldest of five children. She graduated from Cardinal Spellman High School in 1967 and Bridgewater State College in 1971. She worked as a teacher in the Hanson Public School system and then as a kitchen design expert at Pembroke Classic Kitchens.

Peggy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt who also had many lifelong friends with whom she would frequently share lunch.  She delighted in hosting her family on the holidays whether it was Thanksgiving or Christmas. She loved watching her children and grandchildren at their respective sporting events and musical performances. Peggy could be found almost every weekend watching her grandsons play soccer no matter the season. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband in their RV, where they explored just about every square inch of the United States and Canada with their journey to Alaska being their longest and most enjoyable trip they took together. She loved spending time at Horseneck Beach, where she and Bob spent their last trip. She spent many hours sewing and quilting making gifts for those near and dear to her heart. Peggy also loved cooking her grandmother’s famous brownies for her family and relished her time making French toast for her grandsons.

Peggy met her loving husband of 50 years at a Cardinal Spellman High School dance where he was a guest of his younger brother Michael. Together, they created quite an amazing family: Sara, Jeff, and Tim. Peggy’s eyes would light up whenever she saw a loved one, whether it was her dear friend Janice Gelnett or her grandsons who she loved with every ounce of her heart.  Peggy’s siblings were her closest and most important confidants. Growing up, they had great role models as their father was a firefighter in Boston and their mother worked at AT&T. It’s no surprise that Peggy devoted much of her life to helping others.

Peggy is survived by her loving husband Robert (Bob) and their three children: Sara Wright of Plymouth, Jeff Wright of Pembroke, and Tim Wright and his wife Maura of Plymouth. Peggy is the proud grandmother of Dillon Wright and William Wright. She is also survived by her siblings, Patti Anne Aiello and her husband Louie of Mattapoisett, John (Jackie) Aleks and his wife Charmaine of Mansfield, and Thomas Aleks and his late wife Rose of Middleboro.  Peggy leaves behind many cousins and friends whom she loved dearly.

She was preceded in death by her beloved parents John and Agnes, her in laws Irene (Zubrzynski) Wright and Dr. Robert F. Wright or Brockton, her brother in law Lawrence (Larry) Wright of Brockton, her sister in law Rose (Paschal) Aleks of Middleboro andbrother in law Bret Guaraldi.
