Mary E. Moylan, 95, of Duxbury, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2023 at home surrounded by her loving family, in Duxbury, Massachusetts.

Mary was born in Newton to William T. O’Brien and Helen L. O’Brien on January 5, 1928. She went to high school at  Mount Saint Joseph Academy and graduated in 1948. She went on to earn a degree in education from Lesley College. After graduating, she worked for the Army teaching students in Cuba and England before returning back to the States where she settled in as an elementary school teacher in Pembroke, MA. Mary was an avid reader with a particular interest in nature and adventure stories. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, winters in Bonita Springs, Florida and summers in Southport Island  Maine. 

Mary is survived by her children, John W. Moylan of Bourne, MA, Marie L. Sullivan of Duxbury, MA and Thomas J. Moylan of Duxbury, MA, and her grandchildren, Colleen Moylan, Courtney Moylan, John Moylan, Brendon T. Sullivan, Michael F. Sullivan, Meghan E. Sullivan and Jacqueline M. Sullivan, Connor A. Moylan and Thomas L. Moylan. She is preceded in death by her husband, John W. Moylan.

A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, September 5th at 10:00 am at the Holy Family Church, 601 Tremont St. in Duxbury. 


In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mass Audubon, 208 South Great Road, Lincoln, MA 01773. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Norwell VNA Hospice for their support and services.
