Richard A. Johnson, Born in New Bedford MA. on April 1,1935, died on July 8, 2023. Richard was preceded in death by his loving wife, Margaret Y. (Hacking) Johnson. 

Son of the late Arne and Hilma Johnson, Father of Christine Rittenhouse and Richard C (Bim) Johnson both of South Carver, brother of Priscilla Rosenthal of Avon Ct. Bette Maki of South Carver and the late Charles W Johnson. Richard leaves behind four Grandchildren, Sara Johnson, Lillian Rittenhouse, Alex Johnson, Natasha Johnson and many nieces and nephews. 

Richard was self employed contractor who assisted many people all his life. He plowed snow for the state of MA for 52 years. He loved to be out plowing snow, when he could no longer plow snow he missed it. He and Margret traved nine times across country. They loved seeing the country. He loved his afternoon coffee conversations with friends at Honey Dew. On special occasions Richard invited many friends to his cottage on Long Beach in Plymouth, where they enjoyed generous cookouts prepared by his daughter Christine. Richard created a flag made out of cranberries in 2001 to remember the events of 9-11 and in support of Veterans Day approaching. Channel five came to Plympton MA where one of his bogs were located and put it on the nightly news.

Visiting hours will be held at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 116 Main St, Carver on Wednesday, July 12th from 4-8pm. A funeral service will be held at Emmaus Bible Church, Carver Thursday July 13th at 10am. Interment will directly follow at the Union Cemetery in Carver.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Richard's name can be made to Cranberry Hospice.
