Gertrude Elizabeth Phillips Lippard – "Trudie"

Trudie was a lifelong resident of Duxbury, MA. She passed away on June 30th, 2023, at Wingate Silver Lake, Kingston, MA.

Trudie was born on Washington Street in Duxbury, MA on September 9, 1929, to Marjorie and Frank Elmer Phillips. Trudiewas the oldest girl in the family of four children. Predeceased by her older brother, Frank Elmer Phillips Jr., Trudie is survived by two younger siblings, Neil Phillips and his wife Diane of Tunbridge, VT and Lynne Howard and her late husband Jeff of Sandwich, MA.

The love of Trudie’s life was her late husband Richard L. Lippard; they had been married for 61 years. They have 2 children, Jody Holmes and her husband Ed of Marshfield, MA and Rick Lippard and his wife June of Duxbury, MA. 

Trudie was a grandmother to Matt Holmes and his wife Aksana, Meridith Lesogor and her husband Ryan, and Richard M.Lippard. Also, Trudie was a proud, great grandmother to Ally, Anna, and Henry.

Trudie graduated from Duxbury High School and worked at several places in Duxbury. Her first two jobs were at the Bridge Food Shoppe and White Brothers Dairy, both managed by her grandmother. Following her graduation from High School, she was a telephone operator with The Telephone Company on Washington Street.  When her children grew older, she workedfor South Duxbury Pharmacy. She and her husband, Dick, with family, owned the Standish Card and Gift Shop in Duxbury. Finally, Trudie ended her many years of work at South Shore Cabinet and Appliance, where she worked into her 80’s.

Trudie loved to read, play bingo, cribbage and spend time with her family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the nurses and care staff of Wingate at Silver Lake and Cranberry Hospice.

Trudie will have a graveside service for family and friends on July 14th at 11 am at the Mayflower Cemetery in Duxbury, MA.
