Obituary of Jane Ellen (Dorgan) Starinskas

Jane Ellen (Dorgan) Starinskas, age 76, passed away on June 15 from Sunrise Plymouth Beach in Plymouth, MA, where she had resided for the last five years, after a short battle with cancer. She was born in Brockton, MA in 1946 and was a 1964 graduate of Brockton High School.
Jane was employed by the Bell Telephone Company, which eventually became Verizon, until her retirement in June of 1995...31 years of faithful service. She married Algimantas Starinskas in 1974 and they purchased their first home in Whitman, where they enjoyed twenty-five happy years. In 1999 they moved to their retirement home in W. Yarmouth and Jane kept very busy with her local Chapter 2899 of The Red Hat Society. She was a loyal member of the St. Vincent dePaul Society and served as President until her husband’s death in 2017. She worked tirelessly on the Stewardship Council, wrote grants for extra funding for the Pantry, and worked as a task force member in formation of the Parish Pastoral Council. She was honored for her service to St. Francis Xavier Parish when she was awarded the Marian Medal in 2009.

Jane was predeceased by her husband, Al, her parents John and Julia (Donahue) Dorgan, her sister, Anne (Dorgan) Farrell, and her nephew, Zach Starinskas. She leaves her brothers, John (Joe) Dorgan, Jr. of Brockton, and Robert (Muggs) Dorgan of Carver, her brother-in-law, Vyto Starinskas of Colorado, her sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, grand nieces, and two great grand nieces.

Calling hours will be at Shepherd’s Funeral Home, 216 Main Street, Kingston, MA on Friday, June 23 from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. and a Mass at St. Joseph’s Parish, 272 Main Street, Kingston, MA will follow on Saturday, June 24 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, 350-388 Pine Street, Centerville, MA.
