Obituary of Ruth L. French

Ruth L. (Wills) French, 98 and a half, of Pembroke, formerly of Abington, Plymouth and Largo, FL, passed away with peace and grace on May 30, 2023, at home with her daughter, Louise, and family.

Predeceased by her loving husband of 72 years, Lloyd. Ruth and Lloyd raised their family in Abington and retired to Largo, FL and summered at Pinewood Lodge in Plymouth. Always by each other's side, they traveled the world and made numerous lifelong friends. She leaves behind her daughter Louise Janhola and her late husband Richard, whom she lived with in her later years in Pembroke, MA, and her son Robert French of Largo, FL.

Ruth was predeceased by her parents John and Evelyn Wills, her siblings Evelyn Benson, Helen Bryant, Dorothy Ryder, and survived by her siblings Jack Wills and Marge Wills. Ruth loved time spent with her many nieces and nephews and her large extended family.

Ruth was the loving GrandMother (“Gram”) to 5 granddaughters, Kimberly Eldridge, the late Kristen Janhola, Heather Brenton and her husband Robert, Kerry Sherry and her husband Patrick, and Stefanie Haen and her husband Gene III. She was cherished by her great grandchildren Brian, Paige, Kevin, AJ, Amanda, Tim, Lexie, Devvyn, Hunter, Joey, Kailey, Emma, Nikole, McKenzie and great-great grandchildren.

Ruth worked in the payroll department at Brockton Hospital, was a member of Eastern Star and The Red Hatters. In her later years, she enjoyed puzzles at the table and snuggles with Boomer on the couch.

Visiting hours will be held at the Shepherd Funeral.. Home, 216 Main Street, Kingston, MA on Tuesday June 20 from 4-7PM. A Graveside service will be held on Wednesday June 21 at the MA National Cemetery, Bourne, at 11:30AM with the funeral procession leaving the funeral home promptly at 10:30am.
