John James (Sam) Toomey Jr, 71, of Carver, originally of Charlestown MA, passed away on February 10, 2023. He is the loving husband of Barbara Burns and was pre deceased by his previous wife, Eleanor Toomey. He is the loving father of Kate Hammond and her husband Mitch, John Toomey III, Julianne Human, Stacey Burns, Christine Connolly and her husband Christopher and Michelle Burns. John is the brother of Kevin Toomey and his wife Maria, Mark Toomey and his wife Mary and the late Shauna Donahue and Jeri Hutchings. He was a devoted grandfather to Taylor, Seamus and Maeve and great-grandfather of Jack and Sean. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

John is a proud veteran of the U.S Marines. He served his country during the Vietnam era. John was a 50+ year member of the Pressman Union. He was a member of the Upland Club in Plympton. He was also an avid golfer. He had a love for animals and nature. He had a amazing sense of humor and was a trickster at heart. He will be missed dearly by all who knew, and loved him.

Visiting hours will be held at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 116 Main St, Carver on Thursday, February 16th from 9:30am to 12:30pm. A graveside service will be held directly following at the MA National Cemetery in Bourne at 1:45pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations in John's name can be made to Wounded Warrior Project at P.O Box 758516 Topeka KS or the Marine Toys for Tots drive 18251 Quantico Gateway Dr, Triangle VA 22172.
