James C. Neil Jr., 84 of Pembroke, MA passed away peacefully on January 6, 2023. He was recently predeceased by his loving wife of nearly 60 years Margaret E. Neil on February 4, 2022. James was born on January 2, 1939 in Quincy, MA to the late Jane G. and James C. Neil Sr. of Port Glasgow, Scotland.

Loving father of his two sons David J. Neil of Pembroke, MA, John A. Neil and his wife Maureen M. Neil, and very proud grandfather to Molly J. Neil and John A. Neil Jr. of Sagamore Beach, MA.

James was predeceased by his brother William Neil and his wife Jean Neil of Weymouth, MA, and two sisters Barbara Neil and Jean Neil of Quincy, Ma.

James is also survived by his sister-in-law Sandra Brady of Weymouth, MA and a proud uncle of several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

James was a graduate of Quincy High School and then served as an Airman in the US Navy aboard the USS Coral Sea and shares the nickname “Ageless Warrior”. He retired from Boston Edison following a career of more than 30 years after working at the Quincy Ship Yard and General Dynamics Corporation.

James was an avid Boston sports fan and one of the Founding Fathers of Pembroke Youth Hockey. An accomplished athlete, his true passion was playing golf. Following his retirement he never stopped working as a gardener around the house with his wife Margaret, and as a starter at Pembroke Country Club.

Family and friends are welcome to attend Funeral Services at First Church in Pembroke, 105 Center St. Pembroke, MA on Wednesday January 18th at 10am. There will be a reception for family and friends after services at First Church followed by a burial ceremony at Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA at 1:15pm.

 In lieu of flowers donations can be made to American Diabetes Association https://diabetes.org/.
