On Wednesday, January 4, 2023, Roberta J Grady of South Weymouth MA, entered into eternal rest at the age of 90. She passed in the comfort of her daughters’ home in Kingston, MA

 

Roberta was born in Chelsea MA on September 4, 1932 to Joseph and Catherine (McGonigle) Gomes. She spent her early childhood in Rhode Island and eventually her family settled in South Weymouth. She worked in Boston as a secretary before marrying and raising her five daughters. She looked forward to spending time with family, who she always greeted with a big, loving hug. She enjoyed music, dancing, Paragon Park and going to the beach, especially Nantasket Beach. Her favorite thing to do was to watch the Boston Red Sox.

 

Roberta is survived by her daughters Deborah (Robert) Bachmann of Westfield MA, Kathleen Thornley, Jacqueline Filiault of Keene NH, Kelly (Charles) Sullivan of Kingston, MA, her grandchildren; Christian (Rebecca) Hebert, Jacqueline (Marisa) Mendonsa, Neal Bachmann, John (Sarah) Thornley, Hannah and Caleb Filiault, Amanda (Kyle) and Justin Lloyd, Emily, Lily and Harry Sullivan, her great grandchildren Evalyn Reagan, Oliver and Owen Hebert, Grace and Sophia Mendonsa. She is also survived by her brothers Jack (Nancy) Gomes, Robert (Joan) Gomes, and many nieces and nephews.

 

Roberta was preceded in death by her former husband John F Grady, her daughter Diane Carter, her son in law Andrew Filiault, her parents Joseph and Catherine Gomes, and her siblings Luiza Rudolf, Joan Ducharme, and Joseph Gomes Jr., as well as her partner, Joseph Stepanski.

 

In lieu of services, family and friends are respectfully invited to celebrate Roberta’s life on Thursday, January 12th from 4-7 at Stockholders Restaurant, 1073 Main St., South Weymouth MA.
