Obituary of Virginia L. Turner

Turner, Virginia "Nanny", 88, of Kingston, formerly of Duxbury passed away at home on Sunday 11/27.

Virginia "went home" to her husband Warren, who passed away in 1999. She exuded resilience, compassion, humor and the unique ability to love unconditionally.

She is survived by her children, Daughter Christine Mastendino and her husband David Boyd, of Pittsfield, Daughter Linda Cunniff and her husband Andrew of Plymouth and Son Peter Turner and his wife Nancy of Kingston. As well as her son-in-law, Rodney Morgan, previously married to Linda. Her grand-children Courtney Morgan & her significant other Mike. Ashley Lewis,Nicholas Mastendino, Alicia Morgan,  Cameron Turner, Liam Turner, Braeden Turner and Cecilia Turner. great-grandchildren Shavonnah Lewis, Tyrell Lewis, Jayden Morgan, Trevor Morgan, Aven Lewis,Nora Mastendino,Chloe Morgan,  and Lily Mastendino. 

Virginia, A lifelong caregiver, she worked as a home health aide where her clients loved her like family, continuing to visit after she retired until all her clients passed so they wouldn’t be alone. She was able to sense what you needed and helped guide you to it based on your personality, a laugh, a shoulder, a distraction, and deliver it before you even knew what you needed yourself. She had a green thumb and could make anything grow, and was quite proud to share how she used coffee to grow a tree one of her grandkids brought home. Fiercely independent she used to ride motorcyles across country, and would stubbornly say "I can do it myself"(Ashley Lewis). This stubborn streak stuck until the end, and was passed on to her entire family. The bravest of women- unless she saw a mouse. She was an inspiration and a positive role model, someone who was just as quick to laugh as she was to offer you a shoulder and a hug. She taught me to "pick your battles", sometimes you have to shed the ego and accept things- othertimes you have to fight tooth and nail: you have to learn which fights are worth it.  

She was the rock of her family and accepted everyone for who they are and showed interest and pride in every one of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She will continue to live on in the hearts and memories of all those who knew and loved her. 

A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday December 2^nd at St. Joseph’s Church in Kingston at 10am followed by a Burial at Mayflower Cemetery in Duxbury.
