Obituary of Joan M Shurtleff

Please share a memory of Joan to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Joan Marie Shurtleff nee Tucker passed away on Saturday April 9th, 2022 at the age of 57. She was the beloved wife of John G. Shurtleff Jr. of Carver for 39 years. Joan is survived by her three children, John Shurtleff and his wife Kerri of Carver, Jill Godley and her husband Mike of Norton, and Jenna Shurtleff of Carver. Her greatest joy in life was being a Nana, to Kayleigh, Johnny and Khloe Shurtleff of Carver and Michael and Amelia Godley of Norton.

Joan was the daughter of David Tucker Jr and Nancy Tucker nee Paulding. She grew up in Rockland and moved to Carver as a teenager where she met her future husband John. They were married in 1982 and built a house in Middleboro, MA. She was a stay at home mom for many years. Whenever her kids got home there was a snack on the table of either cookies or rice crispy treats and next they would need to check their rooms to see if it had been redecorated while they were at school. She loved to spend time with her mother and best friend finding the best deals at the Filenes. Later on she joined her mother’s company as a realtor and helped many people find their dream homes. She later built her own dream home in Carver, where the whole family would gather for the holidays. Joan’s favorite thing was planning family activities and events. She loved having her siblings Brenda Tucker, Patty Meaden nee Tucker, David Tucker and Dennis Tucker and their families over for the get-togethers or going on trips. She was always had ideas to create fun memories from having all five grandkids over for a slumber party to making homemade raviolis for 50 people.

Even though her time with us was not nearly enough, she lived a full life. Joan devoted herself to caring for her family and friends. She always said how proud she was of each of her children and how happy she was spending time with her grandchildren. She had a smile that lit up a room, a full laugh and made you feel welcome from the moment you met her. She will be missed by so many.

Visiting hours will be held at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 116 Main Street, Carver, on Friday April 15, 2022 from 4:00PM to 8:00PM.
