Obituary of Donald L. Reddington
Donald L Reddington , 85 years old
Donald L Reddington of Kingston, MA, went to eternal rest on Sunday December 19th, 2021 at home with his family by his side after fighting multiple cancers. He was born in Quincy, MA on August 22nd, 1936. He was the son of the late David Reddington and late Ruby Churchill Reddington Smalley. He attended Quincy Schools and Massasoit Community College Brockton, MA. He served in the United States Army from January 1957 to January 1959. He worked at Logan Air Port, The Fore River Quincy Ship Yard and served on the Quincy Fire Department for 35 years as an active firefighter.
He will be warmheartedly remembered as a devoted son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. His interest and hobbies were his family and friends first, being an avid Boston sport fan, travel, and landscape & gardening.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 60 years, Joyce A Reddington, his three daughters and their significant others, Susan Reddington-Cohen and her husband Bruce A Cohen, Beverly Reddington Graham and family friend Michael Shean, Cathleen Reddington Bongarzone and family friend Donald Hayes. His grandchildren, Alisha (Cohen) Mazzilli and her husband Jacob Mazzilli, Jennifer Graham and family friend Casey Dupras, Justin Graham, Jared Graham, Jerome Ferreira, Gino Ferreira, Charles Bongarzone and Sara Bongarzone and great-grandchildren Savannah Dupras and Nathaniel Dupras. He also leaves behind sister-in-laws Gail McDougall & Valerie McGowan and significant other Michael Doherty. As well as many nieces and nephews. He was the late brother of Edith Bellevue of MA, Catherine Gunderson of MN, Ruby Fulle of OH, David Reddington of MA, Claire Fredrickson of MA and niece Sharon Pupek of MA and nephew Walter White of MA. Brother-in-laws Fredrick McDougall of ME and Patrick McGowan of MA.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday January 5th, 2022 from 4pm to 7pm at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 216 Main Street, Kingston, MA 02364. The funeral service will be Thursday, January 6th, 2022 at 12:15pm starting with a final farewell at the Shepherd Funeral Home followed by a funeral procession to Massachusetts National Cemetery, Connery Ave, Bourne, MA for a funeral service and burial.
