Obituary of Jeanne Roche

Jeanne Francis Roche, age 87, an educator and life-long resident of Massachusetts was called home on December 17, 2021. Our “Nunnie,” as she liked to be called by her grandchildren, was an amazing wife, mother, and daughter, whose Catholic faith was an essential part of her life.
Jeanne is survived by her husband, James Roche, of 67-years, her children (and spouses) Dauna (Edward Coffin Sr.), Helen (Patrick Davis), Michael (Lori Reardon- Roche) and Chrissy (Timothy Sweeney); her grandchildren: Edward Coffin Jr.; Timothy, Emily and Lily Sweeney; Brendon Reardon and Liam Roche; her niece and nephew: Janis Spain and Robert Reardon and many beloved relations of her extended family.
Born in Boston, MA in 1934 to John F. Reardon and Helen O’Sullivan, Jeanne had one brother John “Buddy” Reardon (deceased).
A 1955 graduate of Boston State Teachers College, Jeanne, a devoted educator, taught for over 30 years at the Mather Elementary School in Boston and was an honored recipient of the Golden Apple Award for teaching excellence. Upon retirement, she continued to nurture a love of learning in her grandchildren.
Jeanne & Jim were avid world travelers but her happiest times were with family and friends sunning at the beach. Quick with a smile and a laugh, Jeanne acknowledged God had blessed her with a loving family yet in her final month, as sad as she was to leave, she welcomed the final journey.
A private service will be held for immediate family. At a later date, a “Celebration of her Life” for family and friends is planned. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Cranberry Hospice, 36 Cottage Park Circle, Plymouth, MA 02360, whose staff the Roche family owes a debt of gratitude.
