Obituary of William (Bill) Chute

William (Bill) Chute, 100, longtime resident of Duxbury, MA, passed away peacefully on October 26, 2021. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 69 years, Marjorie (Trimble) Chute.

Bill was born in Waltham, MA, to Edward and Bessie (Hinckley) Chute in 1921. He met Marjorie in 1942 while stationed at the Coast Guard Air Station in Salem, and they married in 1944. He was an aviation engineer, flying in PBYs over the North Atlantic during WWII.

Over the years, Bill’s work as an electrical and field engineer, had them moving to Springfield, Needham, Kalamazoo MI, Hampden MA, before settling in Duxbury. These two very caring people gave much to their family, friends, and to their communities, volunteering with the disabled, elderly services, and local hospitals throughout their lives.

He is survived by his brother, Edward Chute and his wife Nancy of Hatchville, MA. He was predeceased by his brother Don and his wife Isabelle, originally from Framingham MA.

Bill is also survived by his three children, Kenneth Chute and Carol of Bonita Springs FL, Gregory Chute and Mary of Newark DE, and daughter Leslie (Chute) Rose of Plainville MA; and his grandchildren Erin, Whitney, William (Bill), Rachel, Megan, and Vincent. They have seven great grandchildren, Madeleine (Mazzy), Jackson, Max, Sean, Evan, Ethan, and Charlotte; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Bill will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known him.

In the spring, the family will be having a private scattering of ashes at sea for Bill and Marjorie, together again at last.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests you make a donation to the charity of your choice in memory of William Chute.
