Obituary of Derek Finn

Derek Finn died unexpectedly on Saturday, August 14, 2021, in the loving sanctuary of his home.  He was 26.

Derek was born in Weymouth, MA and lived in Kingston and Plymouth, MA.  He was the beloved son of Lauren Finn of Plymouth and of William Finn, Jr. of Sagamore Beach and older brother of Riley Finn of Plymouth.  Derek is survived by both sets of grandparents, Ken and Irene Wilbur of East Bridgewater and William Sr. and Dorothy Finn of Pocasset, as well as his as aunts, godmother Kristine Champoux of Sandwich, Kimberly Finn of Sagamore Beach, and Carol Conti of Braintree, MA; and also his uncles, godfather George Gahan of Plymouth and is predeceased by Leo Finn.  Derek is also survived by numerous cousins and great aunts and uncles.  Derek graduated from Middleborough High School and worked for Plaza Package Store of Plymouth.

Derek was talented in so many ways.  He was known for his gentleness, humor, kindness, generosity, musical talents, athleticism, and his laughter.  He brought sunshine to every room he entered.  He will be missed by so many as he touched so many lives.

Derek’s spirit knew no bounds which will make his loss even more profound to those in his life.  He is now entertaining and bringing joy to those in heaven.  May his spirit live on in all of us.

Derek’s family would like everyone to take time to share Derek’s struggles with addiction in order to raise awareness within our communities.

Visiting hours for Derek will be held at the Sheperd Funeral Home 216 Main St, Kingston, MA on Tuesday August 24, from  4 to 8 pm and Funeral Service will begin at 11.am on August 25 at St Joseph Parish located at 272 Main St. Kingston, MA.
