Please share a memory of Winslow to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Winslow “Bink” Allen (82) passed away peacefully on August 7, 2021 at Keystone Assisted Living Facility in Buzzards Bay, MA. His recent battle with serious medical issues showed his strength in facing life challenges.

Bink spent his childhood years in Duxbury, MA, the son of the late Marjorie and Winslow Allen. He graduated from Duxbury High School and enlisted in the United States Navy.

Bink had a 42-year career at the Bayside Marine, a thriving Grady White dealership in Duxbury. He considered this his dream job as he loved installing boat electronics, as well as doing all aspects of motor repairs and maintenance. Serious boaters sought him out for his expertise and considered him one of the best in his field.

Bink was a quit man, a man of few words. But he also loved a good time. He had a strong sense of adventure, whether he was racing his sailboat, or flying his ultra-light plane. He was an avid water skier during his younger days and performed with John Bailey’s ski school in Kingston.

In order to obtain his captains license, at the age of 70, Bink completed a comprehensive course in marine boating which included navigation, CPR and basic marine safety.

Binks passion was taking his boat the Liverliner 111 to Stellwagen Bank to enjoy a day of Tuna Fishing. Often times, on a lucky day, the Japanese fish brokers would be waiting on the dock for his catch.

Shrink wrapping clients’ boats kept Bink busy in the fall.

In 1986 Bink met Bonnie, the love of his life. She shared his love of the ocean and convinced him to try sailing. Together they bought a 38-foot Ketch and for several years sailed the many coastal harbors along the South Shore. On one occasion the boat was ravaged by a freak storm in the Duxbury Harbor. As a result, a huge hole was made in the hull. The boat was taking on water and in danger of sinking, Single handedly Bink was able to board the boat and move it to the Blue Fish River amidst howling winds and torrential rain. His ability to face obstacles during his life and to succeed was profound.

In 1986 Bink and Bonnie built a home on the Jones River in Kingston where they have lived till now.

Bink is survived by his loving wife Bonnie (Joyce) of 35 years, 3 daughters by a previous marriage, Leighann Allen of Maine, Brenda Peacock of Buckfield, Maine, and Courtney Tuft of Belfast, Maine, 3 step children, several grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Martha Allen of Duxbury. Bink was the brother of the late Carol Hubbard and the late John Allen.

Bink was the life long member of the American Legion in Duxbury and a member of the Hilltop Club of Kingston.

Private family service will be held at a later date.

Donations may be made in Bink’s memory to your favorite charity.
