Mary (Bent) Monks, nee Hines, of Kingston, and formerly of Rockland, died peacefully on July 2, 2021, at home with her loving and caring son, David, by her side. Beloved wife of the late Harry E. Monks Jr.; predeceased by her first husband Antone L. Bent. Loving mother of David A. Bent of Kingston and Michael A. Bent of Rockland. Mary was predeceased by her children to whom she was devoted, Edward Bent of Rockland, Stephen F. Bent of Duxbury, and Ann Marie Bent of Kingston. Caring stepmother of Maria Monks Serrao and her husband Argenis of Melrose, Theresa and her husband Mark Pisano of Plymouth, and Lisa Monks of Reading.  Cherished grandmother of Kaitlin Pisano, Jocelyn Massey, Alyssa Pisano and her husband, Matthew Ellsworth, Mark Pisano, Alexander Serrao, and the late Kristiana Serrao. Mary also leaves three great grandchildren. Daughter of the late Grace (McCaffrey) and Melvin Hines. Sister of George Hines of Rockland, the late Miriam Edwards of Abington, Elizabeth “Bette” Clawson, and John "Jack" Hines. Mary is also survived by dear cousins and many nieces and nephews.

The family of Mrs. Monks would like to share a celebration of her life on Thursday, July 8 from 8:30 – 9:30 AM at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 216 Main St (Rt. 106) Kingston. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, July 8 at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Church, Kingston. Interment will directly follow at Holy Family Cemetery in Rockland.
