Stephen A. Ohrenberger, “Steve,” aged 70, passed away suddenly on June 1, 2021.

Steve was born on May 5, 1951 in Providence, RI. He was raised and educated in Whitman, MA and was a graduate of Whitman-Hanson High School Class of 1969.

Steve met his best friend and love of his life Nancy E. Turner at Whitman-Hanson High School. They married on August 18, 1974 and moved to Bridgewater where they raised a beautiful family and shared many great times together. They sold their house in Bridgewater after 35 years and spent the last 8 years enjoying their wonderful life at White Cliffs Country Club in Plymouth, MA where they made lasting friendships.

Steve graduated with a Masters in English from Bridgewater State College. He spent 10 years as an English high school teacher at Dighton-Rehoboth High School. He then had a successful career at Bridgewater Savings Bank culminating as VP, Chief Information Officer. Most recently, he enjoyed having a Mr. Fix-It business and took pride in many of his renovation projects. Steve was a hard worker and could fix and create anything.

Steve was the beloved husband of Nancy E. (Turner) Ohrenberger; devoted father of Jason S. Ohrenberger & his wife Lisa of Wake Forest, NC, Megan E. Kirkum & her husband Michael of Plymouth, MA, and Elise A. Bishop & her husband Darren of Tolland, CT. He was the loving “Grampa” of Clara, Ava, Mason, David, Nora, Ryan, Heidi, Julia, Lila and Alice. Dear son of the late Arthur and Jane (Boyle) Ohrenberger, brother of Sally Kennedy & her partner Geoff of Melbourne, Australia, Mark Ohrenberger & his wife Anne of Yarmouth, MA, Michael Ohrenberger & his wife Karen of Middleboro, MA, Catherine Spillane of Carver, MA, John Ohrenberger & his wife Ashley of Rochester, MA, and Tim Ohrenberger & his wife Teri of Layton, UT. Steve is survived by his two brothers-in-law Bruce Turner and Carl Turner and their families. He has many nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.

Steve was a devoted husband of 47 years to Nancy, a loving father, and a grateful and happy grandfather. He was a selfless man who loved his family more than anything. He loved to travel with his wife, his brother Tim and sister-in-law Teri, his sister Sally and her partner Geoff, and life-long best friends Steve and Ann Hurd. Together they discovered so much of the world and had so many laughs. He loved the group of friends he and Nancy had formed in their White Cliffs Community. They traveled together as well, making even more memories to treasure.

He loved playing golf and even just watching from his back patio at the 15th hole. Steve loved music, playing guitar, reading, and learning about anything. He was a sponge for knowledge and loved sharing it with anyone who would listen. He was a man proud of a plethora of useful and useless information. He was a master craftsman, creating beauty in projects big and small. He was larger than life and inspired respect and love to all fortunate to know him.

Steve had a powerful work ethic, and he taught it to his children through his quiet, perseverant action rather than words. He set a wonderful example of steadfast love as a husband and father for his children to follow, and he deeply honored and respected his three children’s families and homes. He never failed to support his wife and children as they pursued their dreams and plans. He showed up in their lives and never quit on them. He was a real man.

His favorite saying was “no matter where you go, there you are.” We know he will always be with us.

Funeral Services for Stephen will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Steve’s memory may be made to The Friends of Aine Foundation, a foundation created by his niece Christine Phillips and her family in memory of their beautiful daughter Aine. It is a foundation that was near and dear to Steve’s heart. www.friendsofaine.com or 146 Lowell Street Manchester, NH 03104.
