Obituary of James C. Burgoyne

Please share a memory of James to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

James C. Burgoyne, 65, of Duxbury passed peacefully on April 9, 2021 after a brief illness.

Jim (as his friends and family called him) was born in Boston in 1955 to his loving parents. Raised and educated in Hanover, he graduated from Hanover High School and received a Bachelor's Degree from Plymouth State College in New Hampshire. He had a natural affinity for sports, playing tennis, baseball, and lacrosse throughout his time in school.

Jim worked as an IT engineer for Datasmith Network Solutions of Walpole. His patient, calm, and reliable demeanor made him both a valuable team member and a friend to many. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed countless Sunday afternoons playing nine holes at North Hill. He loved music and could be found playing his guitar along to Bruce Springsteen, Warren Zevon, or James Taylor on any given Saturday night. Weekdays, of course, were dedicated to defending his title as the family’s reigning Jeopardy champion.

Jim was the beloved husband of Debra (Danker) Burgoyne of Duxbury. He leaves a son, Benjamin Burgoyne, and a daughter, Molly Burgoyne, also of Duxbury. He is the brother of John Burgoyne of West Barnstable and Barbara McClanahan of Mesa, AZ. He also leaves four nieces and nephews. His family remembers him as endlessly dedicated to those he loved, and as humble and empathetic as he was quick-witted. He set an example of loyalty, virtue, and work ethic that will live on in all those he impacted throughout his life. He was, and will continue to be, incredibly loved.

A memorial service will be held at a future date.
