Obituary of Ingrid Lindquist

Please share a memory of Ingrid to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Ingrid Virginia (Berglund) Lindquist, known to all as Ginny, passed away peacefully at home on April 8, 2021. Born in Worcester on October 24, 1927, to her immigrant parents Anna (Malberg) and Sven Berglund, she was proud of her Swedish heritage as a first-generation Swedish-American citizen.

A caring friend and neighbor, gifted artist and seamstress, and dedicated community volunteer, Ginny loved babies and children and quietly cared for those in need around her. Shewas a longtime member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Bordentown Chapter, and a former board member of the Order of Rainbow Girls of Princeton, NJ, as well as a charter member of the Woman’s Club of Princeton, NJ. An avid choral singer since childhood, Ginny sang in many church choirs over time, including 45 years in the Senior Choir at the Church of St. John the Evangelist in Duxbury, MA. She also enjoyed performing in the alto section of the Choral Art Society of Scituate. A dedicated member of her Duxbury church, she actively participated in the St. John’s Guild for decades, including over 10 years leading it.

Ginny leaves her five children, Wendy Lindquist and husband Kurt Lutz of Yarmouth, ME; Jane Lindquist of Arlington, VA; Donna Lindquist of Austin, TX; Glenn Lindquist of Houston, TX; Ann Marie Lindquist and husband Robert Weisskoff of Lexington, MA; as well as grandchildren Jason Mills and wife Anna, and Sophie, Zoe, and Leo Weisskoff; and great-grandchildren Alexis and Max Mills. She was a devoted aunt to her niece and eight nephews. Ginny was predeceased by her siblings, Marguerite Thoren, Evelyn Frederickson, and George Berglund, as well as by her husband of 61 years, Gustaf Berg Lindquist, who passed away in 2012.

A memorial service will take place during the summer when family and friends can gather safely. Memorial contributions can be made to the music program of the Church of St. John the Evangelist, PO Box 2893, Duxbury, MA 02331 (gifts notated in memory of her will support the music program), or to the Harvard Band Foundation, PO Box 381428, Cambridge, MA 02238, harvardbandfoundation.org. Online condolences at shepherdfuneralhome.com.
