Obituary of Ellen Pumphret

Ellen Pumphret, 59, of Carver passed away on April 10, 2021. Ellen was the beloved wife of Daniel Fortier, loving mother to Mark Pumphret and his fiancé Amanda Silvera and their son, her cherished grandson, Orion Anthony Pumphret. Ellen was the daughter of the late Joseph and Alice Pumphret. Ellen grew up in Hanover, MA and is also survived by her brothers; Joseph Pumphret and his wife Lisa Goodson of Crowley, Texas, Robert Pumphret of Plymouth, MA, and Stephen Pumphret and his wife Michelle of Plymouth, MA, and her half-brother Andrew Pumphret of Andover, New Hampshire. Surviving sisters include Sandra (Pumphret) Haggerty and her husband Raymond of Bryantville, MA and Joan (Pumphret) Roman and her husband Mark of Arlington, MA. Ellen is also survived by many nieces and nephews, including Jennifer Haggerty of Raynham, Adam Langley of Wareham, Raymond Haggerty of Hanson, Whitney and Kelsey Pumphret of Plymouth, Andrew Goodson of Virginia, Natasha Goodson of Denton Texas, and Shauntaye Pumphret of Canterbury, New Hampshire. 

Ellen loved Harley’s and animals. One of her greatest joys was driving horse carriages around Boston. She loved her own horses Rebel, Frosty, Joker, Baybe, Dell and Mystery. She also leaves behind her beloved dog Cydni. 

Ellen was also a people person who gave her time freely and lived to help others. She made a career in information technology working at school systems in Carver and most recently for the Pilgrim Area Collaborative. Her passion for public service and helping others was infectious and she considered her colleagues as family. Her family is grateful to the staff at the Pilgrim Area Collaborative for the thoughtful and compassionate treatment they showed her during her battle with cancer. 

Memorial visiting hours will be held on April 15th from 4-8:00 PM at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 116 Main St (Rt. 58) Carver. Donations may be made in Ellen’s name to American Cancer Society.
