Obituary of Patrick F. Deveney

Patrick Francis Deveney, age 84, passed away peacefully at his home in Marshfield surrounded by his loving family on March 14, 2021.

  Patrick was born in Mission Hill to the late Margaret and Patrick Deveney of Ireland on April 6, 1937. He graduated Mission High and entered the Air Force, before working as a substation operator for Boston Edison. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Joan Carroll Deveney. The couple lived in Boston prior to moving to the South Shore where they settled in Duxbury and Green Harbor Marshfield. 

Devoted father of Patrick Deveney, Susan Bishop (Brad), Stacey Andrade (Andy), Dennis Deveney, Scott Deveney, and Sara Nocher (Rob). Dear brother of Beatrice Lowney (John), Molly Hurley (Wacko), James Deveney (Gladys), and predeceased by sister Anne and brother John Deveney (Shirley). Cherished Papa to Katie, Patrick, Blade, Brooke, Quinn, Deveney, Molly, Patrick, Ryan, Robert, Deveney, Connor, Keagen, and Scottie. Great-Grandfather to Charlotte and Stryder. Loved by his many cousins, nieces and nephews. 

Patrick will be lovingly remembered for his quick wit, competitive game playing, his love of dog and horse racing, and his Greyhound Protocol. Anyone that knew Paddy knew the way to his heart was through his sweet tooth. A favorite pastime were his daily walks along Green Harbor. We will always carry his memory and legacy in our hearts.

Visitation will be held at Shepherd Funeral Home, Kingston on March 22, at 8:30am followed by a Funeral Mass at Holy Family Church, Duxbury at 10am. Interment with Military honors will follow at Mayflower Cemetery.
