Stephen Gerard McGunnigal, 60, of Plymouth, passed away on March 2, 2021. Beloved husband of Karen McGunnigal. Stephen is survived by his loving children, Christine Rohrer and her husband Christopher of Kingston; Stephen McGunnigal of Pembroke and Mary McGunnigal of Rockland. Stephen was born in 1960 to his parents, James and Agnes “Nancy” McGunnigal. He is also survived by his siblings, Patricia Illsley and her husband Jeffrey of Bridgewater; Gerard McGunnigal of East Taunton and Nancy McGunnigal of Easton. He was the loving grandfather of Marcus McGunnigal and Erla, Jamie and Tessa Rohrer. Stephen is also survived by his goddaughter and niece, Kelly Lundquist and nieces, Kristina Hone, Beth and Marie Kiley, Emily Hunter, Ann-Marie Illsley and Moriah Park. Nephews, Kevin Lundquist and Jeffrey Illsley. He also leaves behind his godparents, Peter and Alice Hamill; cousins, Peter Hamill and Elizabeth Powers, mother-in-law, Claire Sullivan, sister-in-law Kathy Kiley, Clairemarie Hunter and her husband Bob, Christine Lundquist and her husband Tom and Carleen Sullivan and many loved aunts, uncles and cousins in Scotland and England. 

Steve was born in Scotland and moved as a young child with his family to the United States, first living in Dorchester and then Brockton. He was an employee of Wellington Management company for 27 years, where he advanced his career and met many wonderful friends. Steve was an avid bicyclist and rode the PMC for 13 years. Above all, Steve enjoyed vacations and time spent with his family, especially his cherished grandchildren. 

Visiting hours will be held at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 216 Main St, Kingston on Tuesday, March 9, from 3:00 to 7:00PM. A Funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, March 10, at St. Joseph’s Church in Kingston at 10:00AM. Interment will directly follow at the St. Joseph Cemetery.
