Obituary of Kathleen Baker Mason

Please share a memory of Kathleen Baker to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Kathleen “Kathy” Mary Baker Mason passed away at home on February 19, 2021 at the age of 61 after a courageous battle with brain cancer, surrounded by her loved ones who will continue to honor her legacy by living their lives to the fullest.

Kathy was born on November 13, 1959 to the late Robert and Mary Lou Baker.  She is preceded in death by her brother Robert Baker Jr. and her son Edward “Eddie” Baker. She is survived by her husband, Lawrence Mason, her daughters Lauren Baker and Stephanie Desouza and her five grandchildren Vincent, Gabriel, Edward, Everly and Rafael. She is also survived by her brother Kevin Baker, and many nieces and nephews, cousins, coworkers and friends.

Kathy was a long time resident of Pembroke. She had an early love of horses, and it was this passion that would lead to long lasting friendships and where she ultimately met her husband Lawrence Mason.  Following in the footsteps of her late mother Mary Lou Baker, Kathy dedicated her life to caring for others.  She was a beloved nurse for many years at Queen Anne Nursing Home in Hingham, MA. Kathy was an inspiring and passionate role model to so many.  Her compassion and loyalty made her a great nurse, coworker and friend.

Kathy was a free spirit. She had a great love of the outdoors. She spent her summers at horse shows, boating on the lake, gardening and camping. She would spend winters making snowmen, and going skiing and sledding with her grandchildren whom she adored. Kathy loved singing karaoke and spending quality time with friends and family. Kathy enjoyed recycling and saving the earth.  One of her greatest joys was raising her oldest grandson, Vincent after the passing of his father “Eddie”.  They enjoyed their many adventures together swimming, camping and riding bikes.

Kathy’s memory will live forever in our hearts.
